Tis the season for creating holiday cards. I had a creative block for my sister-in-law and her kids card, but it came to me on Sunday afternoon as I shot a football game in a monsoon. Joan and her kids are up for just about anything for their card and give me creative control. To pull off this shot I mounted a handheld strobe inside the umbrella to light the faces and lovely holiday sweaters and then backlite the rain with another strobe. Luckily we have a warm water supply in our garage so the simulated rain I pelted them with wasn’t all that cold. Green Bay is in the midst of the wettest December on record so I though the greeting “Let the holiday spirit rain down on you” would be appropiate.
