Skating Sisters and “The Flying Nun”.

My wife Judy has a sister who is a sister, Sister Anne Turba.  Judy loves her sister a great deal and I think that shows in these photos.  Earlier this year Anne mentioned to me that she and some of the other sisters at Holy Family Convent in Manitowoc get together a few times a year to skate on the lake at the convent and even do a little toboggan riding.  The editorial photographer in me knew this would make some great pictures.  Things didn’t work out this winter to get a large group together, but a few of the sisters went out skating with Anne on her birthday.  Judy and I just happened to visit that afternoon.  Here are a few of the photos and a series that I call “The Flying Nun”, even though they are sisters and not nuns.  I’m looking forward to being invited back next year.  Everyone at the convent is so warm and welcoming to us.  If you would like to see additional photos or to license an image please visit my archive.
