The Green Bay Packers defeated the New York Giants 38-13 in the wildcard round of the NFL football playoffs at Lambeau Field on January 8, 2017 in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The Packers will continue on to play the Dallas Cowboys in the divisional round. I think I got some nice photos of a couple of key plays – one being the Aaron Rodgers’ hail mary pass to Randall Cobb, and the other of Clay Matthews stripping the ball from Eli Manning and recovering the fumble. The Cobb catch happened just a few feet from my normal end zone position. It was so close that I thought the entire gaggle of players were going to land in my lap. I was maybe a split second late pulling up my camera to shoot since I was trying to protect my gear, but I still got a nice shot of Cobb coming down with the ball and as he started to celebrate. With the Matthews play, I got three nice shots – first the ball coming out of Eli’s hand, then Matthews chasing after the ball and third, his celebration. The celebration was a little subdued because Matthews was the only one even aware of what happened. Most of the players thought it was an incomplete pass since it landed so far ahead of the line of scrimmage. But, it wasn’t – the whistle never blew, so it was still a live ball.

So, here are my favorite photos from the game. It will be my last NFL game of the season with the Packers playing on the road for the remainder of the playoffs.
