Wisconsin Editorial Photographer and Wisconsin Commercial Photographer Mike Roemer’s blog.

Hi, I'm Mike Roemer, a commercial, corporate, industrial, agriculture and editorial photographer based in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

I've lived the photography business since childhood, first tagging along during my father's long newspaper photography career before ever carrying my own camera gear. My interest grew as I watched the fascinating process of my dad making black and white images appear while shaking trays of chemicals under the red lights of a developing room.

My professional career started with a ten-year stint as a newspaper photographer meeting tight deadlines, adapting to curve balls and making the famous and not-so-famous comfortable in front of my lens.

I returned to Green Bay in the mid-1990s to start my own business, and now regularly travel around the U.S. and internationally for my clients. I enjoy the creative challenge of combining unusual angles, lighting and lens options to produce the perfect commercial image.

I've won first place awards in Pictures of the Year International, National Press Photographers Best of Photojournalism and National Headliners, along with being a three-time winner in the Pro Football Hall of Fame photo contest.

I love the variety of projects I get to work on, from healthcare organization and foundation annual reports, high-energy casino and gaming shoots, industrial projects at locations as diverse as cheese manufacturers and steel plants, to corporate culture assignments and documenting the Green Bay Packers.

Thanks for looking!

Photos FromThanksgiving Weekend in Chicago, Illinois.

Thanksgiving weekend is almost over.  Lots of good times with family.  Gathering of 37 Turbas and Kiernans at Judy’s sister Rose’s house here in Green Bay for t-day.  I had the honor of making two crowd pleasing deep fried turkeys and fresh cranberry sauce.  Judy and I even took advantage of the boiling vat of fresh oil to make doughnuts for the masses.  Friday is was off to Chicago to visit the Christ Krindle Market in Dailey Plaza,  had a much needed real German brat and schnitzel sandwich followed by a late dinner at Rick Bayless’s restaurant Frontera Grill (I highly recommend) and a little window shopping and Mac store visit.  I had a camera with me, but only shot a few photos–it was a weekend to relax.  Saturday it was off to a Chicago suburb for more family time.  Monday it’s back to work and a couple of projects I’m eager to do.

Photos From The Green Bay Packers vs San Francisco 49ers • NFL Football Game.

After a quick edit here are my two favorite photos from the Green Bay Packers vs. San Francisco 49ers NFL football game today at Lambeau Field.  Both shots are big hits.  One big hit by Atari Bigby of the Packers and one of Donald Driver taking a big hit and getting upended.  Eager to do a more thorough edit later in the week to work on some of the other photos.  Like last week I looked for some interesting shots away from the action, but with the Packers letting the 49ers back into the game I needed to concentrate on action more then I did last week.

Thanks for looking!

Missouri Annual Report Healthcare Photographer

In today’s mail I received a copy of a healthcare annual report I worked on for a hospital in Cape Girardeau, Missouri for an ad agency I work with in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  The report included photos from photo shoots I have done for this healthcare client over the years, but was finished off with some environmental portrait photography we did in September.  Here are some of my favorites.  If you would like to see more of my healthcare photography or other portraits please take a look at my web site at RoemerPhoto.com.

Thanks for taking a look!

Green Bay Packers Football • A Different View by Green Bay Photographer Mike Roemer

This past weekend I spent part of the Green Bay Packers NFL football game against the Dallas Cowboys looking for some interesting non action photos.  I’ve been photographing the Packers since I moved back to Green Bay in June of 1996 and have only missed a handful of games since.  This season I’ve tried to focus on not only the peak action photos my client is looking for, but also the interesting photos away from the action.  I used a tilt/shift lens for a number of these photos.  The tilt shift lens allows me to use selective focus.  Here area a few of my favorites.  If you would like to see some of my more traditional sports photography please visit my web site RoemerPhoto.com.  Thanks for looking!NFL FootballsSmiling Cowboy
