Wisconsin Editorial Photographer and Wisconsin Commercial Photographer Mike Roemer’s blog.

Hi, I'm Mike Roemer, a commercial, corporate, industrial, agriculture and editorial photographer based in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

I've lived the photography business since childhood, first tagging along during my father's long newspaper photography career before ever carrying my own camera gear. My interest grew as I watched the fascinating process of my dad making black and white images appear while shaking trays of chemicals under the red lights of a developing room.

My professional career started with a ten-year stint as a newspaper photographer meeting tight deadlines, adapting to curve balls and making the famous and not-so-famous comfortable in front of my lens.

I returned to Green Bay in the mid-1990s to start my own business, and now regularly travel around the U.S. and internationally for my clients. I enjoy the creative challenge of combining unusual angles, lighting and lens options to produce the perfect commercial image.

I've won first place awards in Pictures of the Year International, National Press Photographers Best of Photojournalism and National Headliners, along with being a three-time winner in the Pro Football Hall of Fame photo contest.

I love the variety of projects I get to work on, from healthcare organization and foundation annual reports, high-energy casino and gaming shoots, industrial projects at locations as diverse as cheese manufacturers and steel plants, to corporate culture assignments and documenting the Green Bay Packers.

Thanks for looking!

Wisconsin Marathon Photographer • Cellcom Green Bay Marathon Photos

Here are some of my favorite photos from the Cellcom Green Bay Marathon that took place this past Sunday, May 16th, 2010 in Green Bay, Wisconsin.  The race starts on Lombardi Avenue with Lambeau Field, home of the Green Bay Packers, in the background.  Runners get to run through the players tunnel and out onto Lambeau Field before finishing the race in the parking lot with a tailgate party waiting them including beer and brats.

This was the 11th year for the race.  I have photographed each one for the marathon.  I greatly enjoy this weekend.  I was amazed at the turnout the runners had along their 26.2 mile trek this year.   Every location I visited was packed with cheering fans.  The sense of accomplishment you see on the faces of the runners as they finish is amazing.  I also enjoy the signs you will find along the course, always good for a chuckle.

Photos from the Green Bay Cellcom Marathon’s Kids Run.

Here are some of my favorite photos from the Cellcom Green Bay Marathon’s Kids Run that took place at Lambeau Field this past Saturday, May 15th, 2010 at Lambeau Field, home of the Green Bay Packers, in Green Bay, Wisconsin.  This was the first year that the kids got to run through Lambeau Field.  The actual marathon and half marathon has run through Lambeau the last few years, but this was the first year the kids got to do it.  They have a number of wave starts by age group.  I really enjoy shooting these races.  The expression you get from the kids is priceless and the look on the faces of the parents and older brothers and sister is amazing.

I hope to have my photos from the actual marathon and half marathon up later this week.

Thanks for taking a look!

Wisconsin Education Photographer – Admissions And Recruitment Photography For Colleges And Universities.

With the great spring weather we have had in Wisconsin I have gotten calls from a couple of the local universities to create photography for their marketing and recruitment pieces.  I have a handful of college and universities that I do this type of photographer for in Wisconsin and Illinois.  I greatly enjoy these types of shoots.  They are generally fast moving and full of happy young people.  Here is a sample of the images.

Germany Vacation With My Wife Judy.

I want to apologize for the lack of blog posts the last month plus.  Since the middle of March I’ve been very busy with a great great vacation with my wife Judy visiting family in Germany and a little side trip to Kitzbuhl, Austria for Easter weekend.  This blog contains more then a few of my favorite photos from the trip.  If you would like to see more please visit the trip gallery.  Since getting back I’ve been busy with some corporate work that I hope to post once I get the all clear from the client.

I’d like to say thank you from Judy and me to the all the family and friends that opened their homes and demonstrated their gemutlichkeit.  From these picture it may look like all we did was eat sausage, enjoy our afternoon cafe and kuchen and have the occasional liter of beer, but we learned a great deal about the history of Germany and the history of my family.  It was a great trip.

Photos From The Horizon League Women’s Basketball Championship.

Here are some of my favorite photos from the Horizon League Women’s Basketball Championship that took place on the campus of Wisconsin-Green Bay this past week.  The host team, Wisconsin Green Bay, lost in overtime in the semifinals to Cleveland State.  Cleveland State went on to beat Butler to win the conference tournament and an automatic berth in the NCAA tournament.  Green Bay, who was ranked as high as 16th earlier in the season,  earned at large bid.
