Wisconsin Editorial Photographer and Wisconsin Commercial Photographer Mike Roemer’s blog.

Hi, I'm Mike Roemer, a commercial, corporate, industrial, agriculture and editorial photographer based in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

I've lived the photography business since childhood, first tagging along during my father's long newspaper photography career before ever carrying my own camera gear. My interest grew as I watched the fascinating process of my dad making black and white images appear while shaking trays of chemicals under the red lights of a developing room.

My professional career started with a ten-year stint as a newspaper photographer meeting tight deadlines, adapting to curve balls and making the famous and not-so-famous comfortable in front of my lens.

I returned to Green Bay in the mid-1990s to start my own business, and now regularly travel around the U.S. and internationally for my clients. I enjoy the creative challenge of combining unusual angles, lighting and lens options to produce the perfect commercial image.

I've won first place awards in Pictures of the Year International, National Press Photographers Best of Photojournalism and National Headliners, along with being a three-time winner in the Pro Football Hall of Fame photo contest.

I love the variety of projects I get to work on, from healthcare organization and foundation annual reports, high-energy casino and gaming shoots, industrial projects at locations as diverse as cheese manufacturers and steel plants, to corporate culture assignments and documenting the Green Bay Packers.

Thanks for looking!

Marine Photography in Door County, Wisconsin.

Here are a selection of photographs I created for Alerion Sailboats of their Alerion Sport 33 with an asymmetrical spinnaker.  The client was looking for lifestyle photos of a middle aged man sailing the boat alone and then some with of him sailing with his children.  A special thanks to Rich Larsen of Yachtworks in Sister Bay for sailing the boat and putting together the crew.

We photographed the boat in the waters of the bay of Green Bay near Egg Harbor to take advantage of the bluffs and islands as our background.

Photos from the Green Bay Packers vs Cleveland Browns NFL Football Game.

Here are a few of my favorite photos from the Green Bay Packers’ game against the Cleveland Browns on Saturday, August 14, 2010 at Lambeau Field.  It was a hot and humid night to top off a hot and humid week.  The Packers lost the game when Browns’ kicker Phil Dawson nailed a 46 yard field goal in the final seconds.  It was a nice change of pace for me after a week of healthcare annual report photography in Missouri.

Photos From The Bill Emerson Memorial Bridge In Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

Here is a shot of me at the office on Monday, August 10th, 2010 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.  As part of an annual report project, I and a video crew from ProVideo in Madison, Wisconsin climbed one of the spires of the Bill Emerson Memorial Bridge to get a view from 425 ft above the Mississippi River.  The climb was 275 ft by ladder with gear on our backs. The climbed was a tough one on one of the hottest days of the summer in Cape Girardeau.  The temp was a degree or two below 100 with high humidity pushing the heat index up towards 125.  We had hoped for better visibility, but took what we could get since getting permission for this climb is difficult.  I’ve also included one of my favorite shots of the bridge.  It was taken a couple of years ago from a helicopter at sunset.

Photos from the Green Bay Packers Family Fun Night.

Here are some of my favorite photos from the annual Green Bay Packers Family Fun Night scrimmage at Lambeau Field.  It’s a great opportunity for fans that don’t have season tickets to see the Packers play inside Lambeau Field.  The event is great for families and is topped off by fireworks.

For me to be a happy photographer I need to have a variety of things to shoot.  I enjoy that I can shoot a variety of commercial and editorial work during the week and then finish of the week with a sporting event on the weekend.

Thanks for taking a look.

Photos from the 2010 Green Bay Packers Training Camp.

Here are some of my favorite photos from the start of the Green Bay Packers training camp near Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin.  The Packers do a great job in making training camp a fun experience for the fans.  One of the traditions that I love to take photos of is the players riding bikes from the young fans to the practice field.
