Wisconsin Editorial Photographer and Wisconsin Commercial Photographer Mike Roemer’s blog.

Hi, I'm Mike Roemer, a commercial, corporate, industrial, agriculture and editorial photographer based in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

I've lived the photography business since childhood, first tagging along during my father's long newspaper photography career before ever carrying my own camera gear. My interest grew as I watched the fascinating process of my dad making black and white images appear while shaking trays of chemicals under the red lights of a developing room.

My professional career started with a ten-year stint as a newspaper photographer meeting tight deadlines, adapting to curve balls and making the famous and not-so-famous comfortable in front of my lens.

I returned to Green Bay in the mid-1990s to start my own business, and now regularly travel around the U.S. and internationally for my clients. I enjoy the creative challenge of combining unusual angles, lighting and lens options to produce the perfect commercial image.

I've won first place awards in Pictures of the Year International, National Press Photographers Best of Photojournalism and National Headliners, along with being a three-time winner in the Pro Football Hall of Fame photo contest.

I love the variety of projects I get to work on, from healthcare organization and foundation annual reports, high-energy casino and gaming shoots, industrial projects at locations as diverse as cheese manufacturers and steel plants, to corporate culture assignments and documenting the Green Bay Packers.

Photos From The Green Bay Packers vs The Detroit Lions NFL Football Game.

Here are a few of my favorite photos from the Green Bay Packers vs. the Detroit Lions NFL football game at Lambeau Field on Sunday, October, 3rd , 2010 in Green Bay, Wisconsin.  As usual I made my way through the parking lots in search of a few tailgating feature photos and then into the stadium to get a few photos as the first few fans made their way into the stadium.  I was happy with the action photos I got especially the photo of Detroit Lions cornerback Alphonso Smith winning the battle for a ball with Green Bay Packers wide receiver Greg Jennings for an interception.  The Packers won the game 28-26.

Youth Sports Photography in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

I wish all football was played without helmets.  It just makes for better photos when you can see the determination and frustration on the faces of the athletes.  On Monday night I did some youth sports photography in Green Bay at a flag football game at Holy Family School.  It was the red team verses the yellow team.  The red team has a couple of my favorite football players, my niece and nephew Zach and Izzy Kellner (that’s them in the first photo).  Many young photographers think you need to shoot the pros to get good sports photos.  I would have to disagree, some of my favorite sports photos each year come from the couple of youth and high school games that I photograph.

Wisconsin – Green Bay vs. Bradley Men’s Soccer Game

Here are a few of my favorite photos from the Wisconsin – Green Bay vs. Bradley men’s soccer game at Aldo Santaga Stadium in Green Bay, Wisconsin on Sunday, September 26th, 2010.  Green Bay won the game 2-0.  The game seemed to be played mostly in the air and I think you can see that with the amount of headers in my gallery.  Shooting the game was a great way to spend a warm and sunny fall Sunday afternoon.

Photos From The Green Bay Packers vs The Buffalo Bills NFL Football Game.

Here are a few of my favorite photos from the home opener for the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin on Sunday, September 19th, 2010.  The Green Bay Packers defeated the Buffalo Bills 34-7.  In the last few years I have worked harder to get photos away from the action.  From the fans in the parking lot tailgating to fans in the stands or photos of the players and coaches before the game.   I got one of my favorite photos in a number of years when Packers linebacker Nick Barnett decided to show me his fangs as I was shooting a tight headshot of him as he was walking off the field during warm-ups.  The fangs are part of his mouthguard.
