Wisconsin Editorial Photographer and Wisconsin Commercial Photographer Mike Roemer’s blog.

Hi, I'm Mike Roemer, a commercial, corporate, industrial, agriculture and editorial photographer based in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

I've lived the photography business since childhood, first tagging along during my father's long newspaper photography career before ever carrying my own camera gear. My interest grew as I watched the fascinating process of my dad making black and white images appear while shaking trays of chemicals under the red lights of a developing room.

My professional career started with a ten-year stint as a newspaper photographer meeting tight deadlines, adapting to curve balls and making the famous and not-so-famous comfortable in front of my lens.

I returned to Green Bay in the mid-1990s to start my own business, and now regularly travel around the U.S. and internationally for my clients. I enjoy the creative challenge of combining unusual angles, lighting and lens options to produce the perfect commercial image.

I've won first place awards in Pictures of the Year International, National Press Photographers Best of Photojournalism and National Headliners, along with being a three-time winner in the Pro Football Hall of Fame photo contest.

I love the variety of projects I get to work on, from healthcare organization and foundation annual reports, high-energy casino and gaming shoots, industrial projects at locations as diverse as cheese manufacturers and steel plants, to corporate culture assignments and documenting the Green Bay Packers.

Happily Ever After Animal Sanctuary.

For the last few years I have been donating a couple of photo shoots per year to help out Happily Ever After Animal Sanctuary.  The shelter is a no kill shelter that is based in Marion, Wisconsin, but has a satellite adoption center in Green Bay.  With the help of volunteers and supporters they have been able to make the organization thrive and have helped over 1,500 animals since their doors opened six years ago.

I hope my pictures can show the love that the staff and volunteers give to the animals.  Judy and I adopted a great puppy from them this summer.  This coming Saturday they are having a fund raising event and if you would like to donate go to their Strutt Your Mutt Page and donate.  Even a few dollars can help.  You can also visit their main web site at http://happilyeverafterinfo.org to donate year round.

Here are a few of my recent photos.  Thanks for looking!

Photos from Green Bay’s Double Overtime Win vs Dayton In Mens Soccer.

I only photography college soccer a couple of times a year, but I always enjoy it.  Sunday I got to photograph a great double over time win by Wisconsin Green Bay Phoenix over Dayton Flyers at Aldo Santaga Field on the campus of the University of Wisconsin Green Bay in the Green Bay Soccer Classic.  As a sports photographer I enjoy having a variety of sports to shoot and this was a nice change from NFL football.  Not sure I was in the best spot to capture the game winning goal by Kirby Allen, but I was very happy with my position to capture the jubilation after the game winning goal.

Photos from the Green Bay Packers win over the New Orleans Saints.

The Green Bay Packers kicked off the 2011 season in a big way with a 42-35 win over the New Orleans Saints on Thursday night September 8, 2011, at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin.  Here are some of my favorite photos that I took during the game.  Please check out my previous blog post for photos from the Back To Football concert.  It was a great day for the Packers, the city of the Green Bay and to be a photographer covering the reigning Super Bowl Champions.  I was very happy in the way I was able to tell the story of the day.

Photos from the NFL Kickoff Concert at Lambeau Field on September 8th, 2011.

The 2011 NFL season was kicked off in a big way at Lambeau Field on Thursday night September 8th, 2011.  Before the game  between the Green Bay Packers and the New Orleans Saints the NFL put on a kickoff concert in the parking lot of Lambeau Field with the stadium as a backdrop.  The crowd for the concert was estimated at around 70,000 fans.  Here are some of my favorite shots from the concert that featured Kid Rock, Maroon 5 and Lady Antebellum.

I’ll be blogging about the game later this weekend.

Photos From The Green Bay Packers vs Kansas City Chiefs 2011 NFL Football Game.

Covering preseason NFL football games can get a little boring.  No one in Green Bay is more ready for the NFL season to kick off in Green Bay next Thursday then I am.  I’m ready for four quarters of real action.  Here are some of my favorite photos for the game between the Green Bay Packers and the Kansas City Chiefs.

I got a couple of decent action shots and a couple of lighter moments on the field, but I was happiest with a couple of photos I got on my way to the stadium.  During last years Super Bowl run I met a couple of real Packers fans.  Charlie Donner and Jeff Knott of Chippewa Falls, Wis.  The two go all out in dressing up for the games and get more then a couple of double takes when people see their backsides.
