Wisconsin Editorial Photographer and Wisconsin Commercial Photographer Mike Roemer’s blog.

Hi, I'm Mike Roemer, a commercial, corporate, industrial, agriculture and editorial photographer based in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

I've lived the photography business since childhood, first tagging along during my father's long newspaper photography career before ever carrying my own camera gear. My interest grew as I watched the fascinating process of my dad making black and white images appear while shaking trays of chemicals under the red lights of a developing room.

My professional career started with a ten-year stint as a newspaper photographer meeting tight deadlines, adapting to curve balls and making the famous and not-so-famous comfortable in front of my lens.

I returned to Green Bay in the mid-1990s to start my own business, and now regularly travel around the U.S. and internationally for my clients. I enjoy the creative challenge of combining unusual angles, lighting and lens options to produce the perfect commercial image.

I've won first place awards in Pictures of the Year International, National Press Photographers Best of Photojournalism and National Headliners, along with being a three-time winner in the Pro Football Hall of Fame photo contest.

I love the variety of projects I get to work on, from healthcare organization and foundation annual reports, high-energy casino and gaming shoots, industrial projects at locations as diverse as cheese manufacturers and steel plants, to corporate culture assignments and documenting the Green Bay Packers.

Thanks for looking!

Packers Quarterback Aaron Rodgers AP Male Athlete Of The Year.

Today was supposed to be an office day.  Tying up odds and ends on a few jobs and finish up Christmas cards, but mid morning I got a call that Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers was named AP male athlete of the year.  The editor that called wanted to know if I could be at Packers practice and get a few fresh shots of last years Super Bowl MVP.  The Packers don’t let you shoot all that much during practice, but I think I got a few okay practice shots.

Congrats Aaron!  I hope you once again make my January and February a busy and fun time.

Photos From The Green Bay Packers vs Oakland Raiders NFL Football Game.

Not that I’m complaining about the Green Bay Packers having such a great season and being undefeated, but when the Packers get out to such a huge lead the action can get a little boring in the second half.  I almost thought I was at a preseason game.

I was very happy with a couple of the features I got before the game started. I poked my head into the bowl a few hours before kickoff and knew I had an interesting shot waiting for me in the center of the field when I saw a half dressed player, Oakland Raiders’ Lamarr Houston, taking in the warm December temps.  The second feature was of Steve Tate of DeForest. WI.  You can find Steve and his Packers cheese head with the word owner on it at most games.  Fans who own Packers stock can call themselves owners and the number of owners is rapidly going up with the sale of an additional 250,000 shares of stock.

As for action, I did okay.  I was in position for a few nice defensive plays by the Packers including a couple of interceptions and Lambeau Leaps.  As for offense it was nice to see Ryan Grant get his running game back into gear.

So, the Packers are 13-0 on the 2011 NFL football season after defeating the Oakland Raiders 46-16 at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin on December 12, 2011.  It will be exciting to see if the Packers can put together a perfect season.

The Green Bay Packers are 10-0 after defeating the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 35-26 at Leambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin in an NFL football game.  Here area some of my favorite shots from the game.  This may sound like a broken record, but I was happy with the shots I got from the game including the shots during warm-ups.  I was hoping for a sunny day at Lambeau Field like the forecast had promised, but it was almost like a night game.  From a sports photographers point of view I hope we have a different look in the final games.  Maybe a nice blizzard game at Lambeau or another snow globe game like we had in the playoffs in 2008.

Wisconsin Green Bay Phoenix Women’s Basketball.

College basketball is underway and we in Green Bay are lucky to have one of the best women’s basketball programs in the country right in our backyard at Wisconsin Green Bay.  The Green Bay Phoenix made it to the Sweet Sixteen last year in the NCAA tournament and are ranked 24th in the country as they start the season.  The Phoenix went 18-0 in Horizon League play last season and won its record 13th straight regular-season conference championship.  Here are some of my favorite photos from their game against Toledo on Wednesday night at the Kress Events Center.

Thanks for looking!  Go Phoenix!

Photos From The Green Bay Packers vs Minnesota Vikings Football Game.

The Green Bay Packers defeated the Minnesota Viking on Monday night Nov. 14, 2011  at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin to go 9-0 on the NFL football season.  At the Packers last home game it seemed like all the good action was on the other end of the field from my shooting position.  This game went much better for me and I was happy not only with the action photos I got, but also with the non action ones.

Hopefully the Packers can continue on their winning ways and we will have a couple playoff games at Lambeau.  I better keep this short and go dig out my winter photography gear.

Here are some of my favorite photos from the game.  Thanks for looking!
