Hi, I'm Mike Roemer, a commercial, corporate, industrial, agriculture and editorial photographer based in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
I've lived the photography business since childhood, first tagging along during my father's long newspaper photography career before ever carrying my own camera gear. My interest grew as I watched the fascinating process of my dad making black and white images appear while shaking trays of chemicals under the red lights of a developing room.
My professional career started with a ten-year stint as a newspaper photographer meeting tight deadlines, adapting to curve balls and making the famous and not-so-famous comfortable in front of my lens.
I returned to Green Bay in the mid-1990s to start my own business, and now regularly travel around the U.S. and internationally for my clients. I enjoy the creative challenge of combining unusual angles, lighting and lens options to produce the perfect commercial image.
I've won first place awards in Pictures of the Year International, National Press Photographers Best of Photojournalism and National Headliners, along with being a three-time winner in the Pro Football Hall of Fame photo contest.
I love the variety of projects I get to work on, from healthcare organization and foundation annual reports, high-energy casino and gaming shoots, industrial projects at locations as diverse as cheese manufacturers and steel plants, to corporate culture assignments and documenting the Green Bay Packers.

On Tuesday I covered what may have been the largest shareholders meeting in shareholder meeting history. More then 12,500 shareholders of Green bay Packers stock attended the teams annual meeting Tuesday July 24, 2012 at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin. It was the largest shareholders meeting in team history, boosted by the more than 250,000 people who bought stock in the team’s recent stock sale. As a an editorial photographer in Green Bay, Wisconsin I love the fact the fans have such team spirit and dress in a visually friendly way. As a resident of Green Bay I love the fact the fans have such a love for the team and such great team spirit. Here is one of my favorite photos from covering the event for a business publication.
One of the many reasons I love my wife Judy is that she lives her life to fullest. Here are a few visual examples of that from the past week. While I waded gingerly into a lake up north that was about 30 degree cooler than the air temp Judy jumped in like it was a hot tub spa at a five star resort. When the dance floor had a brief lull at a friends’ wedding, Judy grabbed the nearest person that knew how to polka and got into the full swing of the tune with a huge smile on her face and a bounce in her flip flopped step. We just celebrated our three year anniversary a few weeks ago and I hope I have many more years ahead of me watching Judy enjoy life.

A year ago my wife Judy and I adopted a mix breed pup from a no kill shelter in the Green Bay, Wisconsin area, Happily Ever After Animal Sanctuary. In the early days of having Chica she would bark anytime I talked with someone on the phone at my home office or when she rode in the back of my SUV. I would have to excuse the dog barking to those clients, but most thought it was cute and wondered if I had any pictures of her on my web site or blog. Well, to those clients and anyone else that’s interested in my pup Chica here is an update with photos of her cooling off yesterday at the Mike Roemer Photography Inc. corporate pool with her cousin Kelby.

Location scouting is a very important part of any commercial or advertising photography project. I recently shot a series of photos for a manufacturer of stainless steel tanker trailers. Our goal for a location was to find interesting roads with limited traffic near their production facility in western Wisconsin. This would allow us to be efficient, productive and creative in our window of opportunity with early morning and late day light. I’ve spent many frustrating hours driving around trying to find visually interesting roads, but on this shoot we got lucky. Within a few miles from the manufacturing plant, we found a number of scenic roads that offered several different looks for the shots.
