Hi, I'm Mike Roemer, a commercial, corporate, industrial, agriculture and editorial photographer based in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

 

I've lived the photography business since childhood, first tagging along during my father's long newspaper photography career before ever carrying my own camera gear. My interest grew as I watched the fascinating process of my dad making black and white images appear while shaking trays of chemicals under the red lights of a developing room.

 

My professional career started with a ten-year stint as a newspaper photographer meeting tight deadlines, adapting to curve balls and making the famous and not-so-famous comfortable in front of my lens.

 

I returned to Green Bay in the mid-1990s to start my own business, and now regularly travel around the U.S. and internationally for my clients. I enjoy the creative challenge of combining unusual angles, lighting and lens options to produce the perfect commercial image.

 

I've won first place awards in Pictures of the Year International, National Press Photographers Best of Photojournalism and National Headliners, along with being a three-time winner in the Pro Football Hall of Fame photo contest.

 

I love the variety of projects I get to work on, from healthcare organization and foundation annual reports, high-energy casino and gaming shoots, industrial projects at locations as diverse as cheese manufacturers and steel plants, to corporate culture assignments and documenting the Green Bay Packers.

Packers move on without Aaron Rodgers • Wisconsin Editorial Photographer

With Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers on injured reserve due to a broken collarbone and a forecast for rain, it was a tough to get to excited for Sunday’s game at Lambeau Field against the New Orleans Saints.   In truth, I was somewhat excited, but yet very apprehensive to see how Packers backup quarterback Brett Hundley would do.  The game started well for the Packers with a couple key defensive turnovers and some good offensive production – thanks to running back Aaron Jones – but then things went south.  In the end, the Packers lost the game 26-17 in backup quarterback Brett Hundley’s first NFL start.  My performance was similar; I caught some good moments, but also missed on a couple of key plays.  Hopefully the Packers and I do better moving forward.  If not, I’ll have plenty of free weekends in January to take up ice fishing.

Laughter and full-out authentic smiles • Green Bay Wisconsin Corporate Photographer

A few weeks ago I was asked by Bay Tek Games of Pulaski, Wisconsin to shoot a series of portraits of some of their employees.  Bay Tek Games is a designer and manufacturer of coin-operated games, so they wanted a series of fun portraits. The goal of the portrait project was to create images that showed happy, fun employees in an arcade environment.  Bay Tek Games had just opened an arcade in Pulaski so we used that as our environment.

To get the type of photos that we captured, we had to get a little silly.  This gave our subjects permission to be silly too.  The end result was lots of laughter and full-out, authentic smiles that you see captured in these images. We had a happy client and were able to give them the type of images they wanted.  Here are a few of my favorites from the shoot.

Sundays Packers Bengals NFL football game at Lambeau Field had a couple different story lines beyond the football action.  The game was the hottest regular season game ever at Lambeau and the national anthem statements heated up.  With those two story lines and the Packers come from behind overtime win it was an exciting afternoon in Green Bay.  I was happy with my photos and thanks to the gallon or so of water and gatorade I drank I survived the day.

Photos from the Green Bay Packers vs Seattle Seahawks NFL Football Game September 2017 • Wisconsin Sport Photographer

Here are some of my favorite photos from covering the Green Bay Packers vs Seattle Seahawks NFL football game at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin to open the 2017 season.  The Packers came out on top thanks to a strong defensive performance that keep the Seahawks from scoring a touchdown.  To me the turning point was a strip sack of Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson by Packers Mike Daniels to set up a short one play touchdown drive to get the Packers on the scoreboard.

I also got a couple features before the game I like and a couple nice moments of the players after the game so I’m happy with my photos from the day.

Wisconsin Stock Photographer • Sunflower Fields

A couple weeks ago, I saw a photo of a brilliant sunflower field not far from our home pop up in my social media feed.  I knew the window of opportunity was fleeting, so I made a trek there a few days later to see what I could capture.  I went late afternoon and it was okay, but I knew it would be even better at sunrise.  My wife Judy is a lover of sunflowers, so it wasn’t tough to convince her to take an early morning drive to the sunflower fields.  Here are couple of my favorite shots from Bergsbaken Farms near Cecil, Wisconsin
