Green Bay Wisconsin Commercial Photographer • Wisconsin Industrial Photographer • Mike Roemer’s Best of 2015
I’m a little late to this party, but here are my favorite photos from 2015. Most photographers like to get their best of gallery out before the end of the year, but I like to think my best shots are still coming so I don’t close the book until the last minute. So, here are my favorite photos from the year. The year wasn’t too different than most – a nice mix of commercial photography and editorial photography. Still a good amount of healthcare photography, but I also tried to make myself known as a Wisconsin agriculture photographer. Maybe Judy getting those eight chickens brought the ag guy out in me. Judy and I didn’t have the opportunity to travel as much as in years past so no tourism shots from Germany. Our non-work time was spent being foster parents which in the big picture is probably more rewarding than a schnitzel and a pilsner at a quaint little gasthaus in Germany. A couple shots that stand out to me as I look back (and that’s probably because I’m staring out at the falling snow as I write this), would be my trip to the ice caves of the Apostle Islands and a cold sunrise on the shores of Lake Michigan as I watched the Coast Guard’s Mobile Bay appear on the chilly horizon. One of the moments of the year that was most memorable for me and for most Packers fans would be when Bart Starr and Brett Favre hugged at halftime of the Thanksgiving night Packers game. Packers fans will remember it because the two legendary quarterbacks met for probably the last time on Lambeau Field and because of the battles with health issues that Starr went through to make that moment happen. I’ll remember that night because it was the wettest, most miserable game I’ve ever shot. I had to constantly battle to keep my gear dry enough to continue shooting. At halftime, I could barely see through my eye glasses and my cameras, but luckily I was still happy with the moments I captured. Last year my iPhone photos made a big push in to my best of gallery, but this year only one did – the shot of the two big stuffed bears in my truck as I drove them home from Costco as Christmas gifts for our foster kids. And what best of blog of mine would be complete without a picture of our dog Chica? But this year Chica was joined by a few other dogs. Other favorites are a shots of the founder of a no kill shelter sharing a loving moment with a pup and another from a vet clinic as a staff member comforts a dog as she performs a procedure on the animal.
Well, that’s about it. I hope you enjoy looking at the photos and I better get out there and start on my best of for 2016.
Thanks for looking!
