Here is my “Best of 2009” gallery. I’m very proud of this collection that ranges from healthcare photography in the Midwest, gaming and hospitality photography on the West Coast, annual report photography in Wisconsin and Illinois, Door County stock photography, Green Bay sports photography and a few shots taken in my off hours. It was a good year for RoemerPhoto; I owe a big thanks to my support staff for making it so. My main assistants are Todd Truttmann and Matt Ludtke. Todd has been a friend since my college days and when he isn’t booked shooting for Target, he can often be persuaded to assist me. Matt is a young photographer and has promising career ahead of him. You can view some of his photography at LudtkePhoto.com. Both of these guys are very valuable on shoots and have taught me a great deal. With youth and technology on his side, Matt keeps me up to date on computers and cameras. Todd has an incredible attention to detail and has a great solution to any lighting challenge we run into. Todd’s skills were invaluable during a two month stint on the road in 2008 during a photography project for Marriott. You can view a gallery of that work here. Another valuable team member is Wisconsin hair and makeup stylist Jai Schmidt of RefashionedByJai.com. Jai has a knack for warming up our subjects and making them look their best in front of the camera. Jai is always up for trying a new barbecue joint and makes a mean homemade jerky for our long road trips. I can’t always bring Jai with me on shoots, but when the budget allows, she is my first call.
Not all of these photos are from assignments; some I shot during time off. My wife Judy and I love to spend time in Door County. Judy was with me when I shot the winter photo in this gallery of the iced catwalk at the lighthouse in Sturgeon Bay. Even when the temps are in the single digits she can be persuaded to give me a human element for a stock photo. You can view some of those photos in my Door County stock file. It’s very important to me to shoot even when I don’t have a client sending me out. I hope to do as much of that as I can in 2010.
I’m very much looking forward to 2010 and hope that my best of 2010 makes me as proud and measures up to my 2009 collection.
Thanks for looking!
Mike Roemer
